I am Wataru Saito from Kyoto University, Japan. I major in economics and international relations. I am interested in disparities of the wealth and the poor, because I read a book called "Capital in the Twenty-First Century", which deals with this kind of problem and became a best-seller both in the US and Japan.
About the pitching workshop on February 10th, we listened to Lupita’s presentation and learned some elements in pitching. Pitching means presenting an idea to someone in a short, clear and convincing manner. After that, we made pairs and pitched about given tasks. I realized pitching is very important in order to make others know about oneself. I think leaders have to introduce themselves in many places, and above all they should be able to gather their thoughts, so it relates to the purpose of this leadership program in that way.
I had never experienced pitching before, but by including some elements I managed to pitch, which was very interesting for me. However, I wanted to improve my pitching skills more, because it is necessary to collect my thoughts in proceeding social activities.
All participants were eager in this activity, because this activity teaches us the importance and interest of pitching as an actual observation. I have an interest in poverty issues and I believe that this framework is very useful to convince others to participate in these activities.
